COVID-19 Vaccination Process

Medscheme, as part of the AfroCentric Group, has established world-class COVID-19 vaccination sites with all the information you need outlined below.

AfroCentric is making a significant contribution and has already vaccinated over 162 000 South Africans across our vaccination sites, including various corporate initiatives.

Due to changing vaccination demands of the public, AfroCentric has taken the decision to focus on providing a targeted service to businesses wanting to vaccinate their employees. We have therefore repurposed some of our sites to support employer-led vaccination initiatives.

AfroCentric does, however, have active sites in Bellville, Houghton and Roodepoort where you can book your slot by completing the COVID-19 Vaccine Form (see step 2 below). If those are not accessible to you, there are many other vaccination sites across South Africa that you can still go to, to get vaccinated.

In line with the National Department of Health (NDoH) roll-out strategy, if you are eligible to get vaccinated and are an active member of a medical scheme, then follow these three quick and easy steps:

Step 1: Register via EVDS

Register on the NDoH Electronic Vaccination Data System (*EVDS) using one of the following tools. If you have a family member or friend who needs support, please assist them to get registered. It only takes a few minutes.

*Please use the latest version of Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge to access the EVDS website.

Step 2: Complete our form and book your slot to get vaccinated

Follow this step if you are not a member of our clients:

Once you are registered on EVDS, complete our COVID-19 Vaccine Form and then book your slot to get vaccinated at any one of our vaccination sites (listed below) between 08:00 – 14:00 from Monday to Friday. You will then receive a QR code (on-screen and via SMS) and a booking confirmation message (via email and SMS):

  • If you need help registering via EVDS, not to worry, you can just come to one of the above vaccination sites for assistance.
  • If our vaccination sites are not accessible to you, see the NDoH list of all active vaccination sites that include pharmacies and other private facilities by region where you can go to get vaccinated.

Important points to note when visiting an AfroCentric vaccination site:

  • Only those over 18 years old can get vaccinated at AfroCentric vaccination sites.
  • The average waiting time at a vaccination site is currently 90-120 minutes.
  • The NDoH COVID-19 safety guidelines are applied.

Bring along the following to the vaccination site:

  • Your ID document or driver’s license
  • Proof of active medical scheme membership (e.g. membership card)
  • Confirmation SMS or email that proves you have registered via EVDS (token number not required)
  • QR code screenshot or SMS
  • Booking confirmation SMS or email for the vaccine site

Step 3: Share your experience

Take a picture and brag about your experience at our vaccination sites.

Share this information and your experience about our vaccination sites and encourage your friends and family to get vaccinated. Use the hashtag #HealthierTogether for us to track your feedback via social media.

Our sites are convenient, uncrowded and quick. We’re waiting to welcome you and make sure you have a great experience!

Let’s save lives, let’s get vaccinated
